The First “Belt and Road” • Sino-Thai Cultural Exchange Festival Opens in QAU

On the morning of April 7, the opening ceremony of the first “Belt and Road” • Sino-Thai Cultural Exchange Festival was held at the Academic Conference Hall of Qingdao Agricultural University(QAU). Song Xiyun, President of QAU, Gu Weidong, Vice President, Nabhasporn Bhuttarichval, Consul General of the Royal Thai Consulate in Qingdao, and Li Liguang, Executive Vice President of China-ASEAN International College, Boren University, Thailand, attended the opening ceremony. Gu Weidong presided over the opening ceremony. Song Xiyun, Nabhaspom Bhuttarichval and Li Liguang delivered speeches respectively.

Song Xiyun pointed out that Qingdao Agricultural University responded to the “One Belt, One Road” initiative actively, integrated into the “One Belt, One Road” innovation system actively, carried out talents, scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation extensively, promoted internationalization strategies and open strategies continuously, and enhanced the level of international cooperation and exchange; The “One Belt and One Road” • Sino-Thai Cultural Exchange Festival was held successfully, which established an important platform for further cultural exchanges, promotion of education and scientific research cooperation between China and Thailand, especially between the two universities, and it also provided an important opportunity for our school to deepen international education; The “One Belt, One Road” • Sino-Thai Cultural Exchange Festival will promote the high-level friendly exchanges and cooperation between QAU and Boren School in Thailand greatly. Our school will take this event as an opportunity to further strengthen mutual visits with universities and research institutes of Thailand, conduct cooperative research, exchange of teachers and students, and work hard to contribute to the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative and the common prosperity and development of the two countries.

Nabhaspom Bhuttarichval pointed out that the friendly exchanges between China and Thailand have a long history. She gave a detailed introduction to Thailand's development of history, economy, culture, agriculture, education and other aspects; In particular, she pointed out the status and role of "Thailand 4.0 (Industry4.0)" in Thailand's national development strategy level, which is related to China's the “Belt and Road” initiative. They have similar historical significances.

Li Liguang said in his speech that Thailand has a relatively complete system at all stages of education and it is in the forefront of the 10 ASEAN countries. Thailand Boren University is willing to integrate into China's “One Belt, One Road” national initiative, explore new ways and new roads of Sino-Thai education cooperation and exchanges with QAU, and make new contributions to sharing talent training experience between the two universities, building a bridge of education, improving the level of international education, and building a closer community of Sino-Thai international education destiny.

The relevant people of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, the Student Affairs Department,  the School of Management, the relevant staff of International Cooperation and Exchange Office of the Qingdao Service Center of Boren University in Thailand, and some teachers and students of our school participated in the opening ceremony.(Figure1 and 2)

 

In the afternoon, the first “Belt and Road” • Sino-Thai Cultural Exchange Festival was held in the Expert Building of our school. Thai food, fashioon, special local products and cultural exchange activities attracted hundreds of teachers and students of our school. The staff of the Qingdao Service Center of Boren University in Thailand presented Thai national costumes and products with cultural characteristics to the teachers and students who participated in this activity. They tasted Thai specialties, fruits, etc. together, Among them, the on-site fruit carving by chef of the Royal Thai Consulate in Qingdao are very popular.
