QAU's Chemistry Discipline Firstly Enters World Top 1% of ESI

On May 14, Clarivate Analytics released the latest data of ESI in May 2020, covering the period from January 1, 2010 to February 29, 2020.

In this issue, the chemistry discipline of Qingdao Agricultural University(QAU) successfully entered the world top 1% of ESI , becoming the third ESI discipline of our university to enter the top 1% of the world. In the three-year period from May 2017 to May 2020, the potential value of chemistry discipline in our university has increased from 40.85% to the top 1 in ESI global ranking, up nearly 60 percentage points, realizing a leap forward development of discipline.

Botany and zoology of our school (first entry on November 9, 2017) has been in the 16th consecutive time, and Agricultural Science (first entry on January 11, 2018) has been in the top 1% of ESI world for the 15th consecutive time.

The chemistry discipline of QAU takes its mission to serve major national and local strategic needs and the demand for talents in the chemistry discipline of economic and social development as its mission. It focuses on cultivating students’ international perspectives and innovative capabilities. Now it has formed three discipline directions with distinct characteristics and outstanding advantages, namely analytical chemistry, organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry.

In 2018 and 2019, the Natural Index ranked first in China's agricultural and forestry institutions. There are 106 full-time teachers in the School of Chemistry and Pharmacy, including 25 professors and 42 associate professors. The doctorate rate of full-time teachers is 92.1%. At present, there are 1 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in Shandong Province, 1 special expert of Taishan Scholars in Shandong Province, 1 young and middle-aged scholar expert of Taishan Scholars in Shandong Province, 1 outstanding youth fund winner of Shandong Province, and 1 joint fund winner of outstanding youth talents of colleges and universities in Shandong Province. In the past five years, he has undertaken 118 scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Shandong Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund, with a funding of 32.86 million yuan; published 429 papers included in SCI, authorized 84 national invention patents; and won 10 scientific research awards at or above the department level.
