From May 18th to 20th, the 5th National University Internet of Things Application Innovation Competition Finals and Awards Ceremony was successfully held in Suzhou and Shanghai. The student team of the Internet of Things Innovation Lab, composed of three students, including Wang Penghao, Chen Haoran and Gao Linlin, from the School of Science and Information Science of Qingdao Agricultural University(QAU), achieved great success and won the first prize in the North China Division and the third prize in the national competition. The National University Internet of Things Application Innovation Competition is the first Internet of Things discipline competition in China. The event is jointly organized by the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Education, the School of Software of Tsinghua University, the ACM China Council, Microsoft Research Asia, and Baidu. It aims to develop students' learning ability, innovation awareness and practical ability in the Internet of Things. It provides a platform for centralized display of education of Internet of Things and research and innovation achievements in colleges and universities across the country. As one of the activities of the China Turing Conference (ACM TURC 2018), after the fierce competition in the national seven preliminaries and divisions, 103 teams from 43 universities across the country were selected for the national finals. .

The student team of the School of Science and Technology joined hands with the work “Intelligent Internet Dynamic Badminton Shooting” and rushed into the national finals through the selection of the sub-districts. In the finals, the exhibition showed its talents and splendid colors, through on-site defense and works display. In terms of appraisal, they won the first prize of North China and the third prize of the country by virtue of their novel creative ideas and superb technical level.

At the same time, the team participated in the Frontier Forum of the Internet of Things and the 2018 China Turing Conference during the competition, which created opportunities for students to get close contact with the industry's leading figures, further inspiring students' innovative thinking, practical ability and team spirit. The frontier direction and the latest developments in the development of the Internet of Things have improved the overall quality and competitiveness of the employment.
