From May 26th to 27th, the final of the 9th National Middle and High School Students' "Sweier Cup" Building Information Model (BIM) Application Skills Competition was held in Beijing University of Architecture (Northern Division). The team of Qingdao Agricultural University(QAU) won the third prize of the all-round team of the undergraduate team.

Under the instruction of  Zhang Cong, Feng Xiumei and Che Guangjie, the “Young Dream Team” composed of five students including Liang Chen, Wang Peipei, Geng Xiaoying, Bi Yue and Chen Xinzhuo participated in the competition. The competition includes four major projects: Engineering Design, Green Building, Engineering Cost, and Project Management. It requires team members from different disciplines to cooperate with each other and work together. It aims to develop students' teamwork skills and BIM application practice skills. Five students were selected after the preliminary rounds of selection and eventually represented the school in the final. During the competition, the five students united and cooperated with each other, calmly and conscientiously. They fully demonstrated the good cooperation ability and spiritual outlook of the students of College of Architectural Engineering. They finally won the special second prize of Project Design, the special third prize of Green Building Analysis, and the all-round third prize of the undergraduate team.

The "Sweier Cup" Building Information Model (BIM) Application Skills Competition of the Ninth National Middle and High School Students, was host by the China Construction Education Association, Engineering Management and Engineering Cost Discipline Professional Steering Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development,  the Civil Engineering Teaching Steering Committee of National Higher Vocational Education, was undertaken by  Shenzhen Swell Technology Co., Ltd.. A total of 2,295 students from 459 teams across the country participated in the competition, including some students from 211,985 universities such as Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Dalian University of Technology, and Sichuan University. The competition aims to build a communication platform for BIM technology application and study  among students of national architecture colleges and universities, to promote the exploration and development of practical teaching of related majors in college construction engineering, to create a learning atmosphere for students to learn professional knowledge and professional skills, to lay a good foundation for the employment and development of students.

It is reported that the Building Information Modeling is based on the relevant information data of the construction project, and then the building model is established. The real information of buildings is simulated by digital information simulation. The “Sweier Cup” Building Information Model Application Skills Competition for students from middle and high schools in China is based on the building information model. According to the concept of collaborative work, students from Architecture, Civil Engineering,Construction Equipment, Engineering Management and other related fields cooperate with each other and undertake the competitions of three important roles of designers, cost engineers and builders in the industry chain. The BIM Competition has become one of the well-deserved brand events in the construction software industry.
