Prof. Dai Hongyi,vice president of Qingdao Agricultural University(QAU), met with academician of the US National Academy of Sciences, Roger Beachy, director of the World Food Center of University of California at Davis(UCD) and Prof. Pan Zhongli, associate director of the World Food Center of UCD on June 30th, 2015.

Vice president Dai Hongyi gave the guests an overview of QAU. Both parties carried on an in-depth talk on the topics of common concern such as food security, soil testing, trophic analysis etc., discussed the possibilities in respects of bilateral exchanges of teachers and students and reached a preliminary consensus.

“Shandong as a large agricultural province possesses a significant strategic position. The higher educational institutes should be committed to solving the practical difficulties for the industrial development based on the guideline of the combination of production, teaching and research, and practitioners should seek to win the trust of consumers by means of excellent communication.” Roger Beachy said.

Representatives from the International Office and Department of Science and Technology Industry were also present at the meeting.
