On April 18th, member of the Standing Committee of Shandong Provincial CPPCC, Gao Fenggang, led the Shandong Provincial Political Coordination Research Group to Qingdao University Agricultural University(QAU)'s Langu Campus to conduct research on the proposals for “marine granary” and marine pasture construction. Yang Hongjun, vice chairman of the Qingdao Municipal CPPCC and deputy secretary of the party group, and Yue Guofeng, executive deputy director of the Qingdao Langu Administration, accompanied the investigation. Song Xiyun, president of QAU, Wang Qingjun and Yang Tongyi, deputy secretary of the party committee, met with the research team.

Song Xiyun expressed warm welcome to the arrival of the research team. He introduced the basic situation of the history of Qingdao Agricultural University and the achievements in construction and development in recent years to the research team. Nie Pin, dean of the School of Marine Science and Engineering, introduced the basic situation of the college and the related scientific research. The research team visited the Institute's Genetic Breeding and Breeding Laboratory, Aquatic Animal Medical Laboratory and Aquaculture System, and had a cordial conversation with laboratory experts and professors to understand the progress of related research.

“Marine Granary” and marine pasture construction are important ways for the transformation and upgrading of fisheries in our province, and occupy an important position in the construction of “new and old kinetic energy conversion major projects” in our province. Member of the  Standing Committee  of Shandong Provincial  CPPCC, the professor of our school, Cheng Yuhai, the member of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference, and the professor of the school, Wang Wenqi, successively submitted to the Provincial Political Consultative Conference the proposal to "Strengthen Agricultural Science and Technology, Pay Attention to the Construction of 'Blue Granary', Guarantee China's Food Security", and "Further Deepen the Cnstruction of 'Blue Granary' Makes it an Important Component and Supplement to Ensure China's Food Security", and proposals for "Further Strengthening the Construction of a Strong Ocean Province” and “Recommendations on Promoting the Transformation and Upgrading of Marine Ranch Construction in Our Province”, etc. A number of proposals were highly valued by the Provincial Political Consultative Conference and the Provincial Department of Oceans and Fisheries, and related written replies were received.

The investigation activities of the provincial government coordination research group began in Rizhao on April 16th. Professor Wang Wenqi of our school, as the main writer and researcher of the proposal, participated in the investigation activities of the provincial government coordination research group in Rizhao, Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai. At the symposium held in Qingdao on the 17th, Li Baozhen, secretary of the Party Committee of the representative school, made a report on the work of Qingdao Agricultural University on the construction of “marine granary” and marine ranching, and he was unanimously affirmed.

Over the years, the School of Marine Science and Engineering of Qingdao Agricultural University has been committed to the cultivation of talents in the “blue granary and marine pasture construction” for the discipline and professional construction. It has provided talent support for the grassroots first-line industry. In the scientific research and industry, it actively serves the local economy of “blue granary marine ranch construction”, which has become a good staff member of the government and aquaculture households. Based on the actual situation, the school put forward the suggestions on multi-level and multi-level assistance for “marine granary” and marine ranching construction on the basis of careful analysis of the development status of Shandong marine ranches, which was affirmed by the leaders of the provincial CPPCC and relevant experts.
