The 8th term “HEP”(Higher Education Press) Cup National Innovation Contest of Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling was closed on July 22nd, 2015. The two teams sent by Qingdao Agricultural University(QAU) has achieved excellent grades with one Team Second Prize, two Individual First Prize and nine Individual Second Prize.

The two teams are the Mechanical Team of School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and the Architectural Team of School of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Under the guidance of Prof. Lin Yuexiang and Pan Zhiguo, the Mechanical Team comprised of the five students, Li Manjun, Gao Yuyang, Sun Yukai, Pan Haoran and Zhou Changhe, successfully won the Second Prize. Besides, the team also obtained two First Prize and two Second Prize respectively in individual events and two Second Prize in individual all-round competition. Prof. Lin Yuexiang and Pan Zhiguo were awarded Excellent Tutor.

The Architectural Team made up of Li Kailin, Li Jie, Gao Bin, Wang Xigeng and Guo Ziwen, tutored by Prof. Pan Dongfang and Jiang Jingtao, also harvested desirable results with one Second Prize in individual all-round competition and four Second Prize in individual events. This is their virgin show in this contest.

The Innovation Contest of Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling is one competition item of the Distinctive Institution Construction Project of Application-oriented Talents Cultivation of the university. Organized by the Department of Teaching Affairs, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and School of Civil Engineering and Architecture respectively held the campus-wide modeling innovation contest and participated in the Innovation Contest of Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling in 4th term College Students Science and Technology Festival of Qingdao city. The two relevant schools and tutors attached great importance to the selection, assessment, building and training of the teams.

This national contest, co-sponsored by the Engineering Graphics Course Teaching Steering Committee of Institution of Higher Learning of Ministry of Education, Cartography Technology Professional Committee and Product information modeling Professional Committee of China Graphics Society, is the highest level competition in graphics courses within the country. This term contest, held in Kunming University of Science and Technology at Chenggong campus, set Team Award, Individual Award, Individual All-round Award and Excellent Tutor Award. A total of 264 teams consisting of 554 teachers and 1,685 students from over 180 universities including Shanghai Jiaotong University, Wuhan University, Harbin Institute of Technology etc. participated in the contest, which covered four different categories, that is, mechanics, architecture, water conservancy and road and bridge.
