The preliminary meeting of Cartoon and Comics show of East Asian Cultures (2015·Qingdao) opened on the morning of March 27th, and the meeting held discussion about the first draft of event planning.

This activity, aiming at implementing the consensus reached on the fifth Summit of China, Japan and ROK in May, 2012, and implementing Shanghai Action Plan signed in China, Japan and South Korea's Culture Minister Meeting for the fourth time in May, 2012, was an important step done by the Culture Ministry to integrate both external and domestic dimensions, furthering the international cultural exchanges and cooperation and enhancing understanding and friendship with neighboring countries.

On the China, Japan and South Korea's Culture Minister Meeting for the sixth time in Yokohama, Japan, 2014, it was stated that Qingdao, China, Niigata, Japan, and Cheongju, ROK were elected as Cities of East Asian Cultures. Qingdao was the second city elected to be one of the cities after Quanzhou. The activity of East Asian Cultures will reflect China’s new appearances after reforming and opening-up, promote culture construction of domestic cities, advance the regional communication and cooperation of Asia, and facilitate world cultural diversity.
