Zhao Zhendong, an expert of Chinese Academy of Engineering, was employed to be the distinguished professor of Qingdao Agricultural University on March 28th. Song Xiyun, President of QAU, awarded the appointment letters to him.

After the appointment ceremony, academician Zhao delivered a speech to the teachers and students of School of Agriculture and Plant Protection, entitled “Motivation-talks with the students of QAU”.

Academician Zhao did further explanation about facing life positively, achieving values and focusing more on moral over intelligence. He advocated that in order to achieve personal values of life, we need to strengthen our will, promote patience and stand dolefulness. He said, 15-year-life in army moulded his unyielding character and positive attitude, which played an important role in his life.

He used his life experiences to inspire students to persist, endure sufferings and take actions to realize values of life. Academician Zhao quoted Einstein’s words, “It is characters that makes great scientists not the wisdom”, to explain that morals are superior to intelligence and emphasize the importance of a researcher’s character.
