Recently, QAU’s program titled ‘A Comparative Study of Janpanese and Korean Agricultural Protection Mechanism from the Perspective of Political Economy under the FTA Framework’ has been approved as a General Project Supported by National Social Science Foundation in 2015, the project number being 15BGJ031 and the total funding up to RMB200,000 Yuan.

The applicant of this project is Professor Li Mingquan from the School of Economics and Management of QAU. Professor Li mainly engages himself in the study of the economic corporation and agricultual issues in the northeast Asia region. Based on the perspective of political economy and from the aspects such as FTA(Free Trade Agreement) policy making mechanism, interest group, social cultural awareness, the cost of agricultural negotiations etc., this project attempts to conduct a comparative study of Janpanese and Korean Agricultural Protection Mechanism, which seems ‘plausible’ under the FTA context, and to explore the discrepencies.This study would have great realistic significance for China in mastering Sina-Korea FTA , obtaining the initiative in the FTA negotiations among China, Korea and Japan and predicting and judging the future evolution trends of the FTA policiesof Japan and South Korea.
