The Key Lab. of the Preventive Veterinary Medicine

The Key Laboratory of Preventive Veterinary Medicine was prepared to construct authorized by the Educational Committee of Shandong province in 1996, and it was founded formally in 1998. The laboratory has been equipped with advanced facilities, which are total worth more than 3,394,400 yuan. The laboratory covers an area of 1000 square meters with nearly 480 square meters of the experimental animal's room. There are 24 researchers with high theoretical level, strong practical ability and general attainment. This academic troops includes eight professors, twelve associate professors, two lecturers and two laboratory assistants.
The laboratory has three stable research fields:
1. diagnose, prevention and control of animal disease.
2. disease of nutrition, metabolism and toxicosis.
3. new drugs for veterinary medicine.
During the Ninth Five-year Plan, the academic troops completed 31 research projects, and wined one first prize award of the National Science and Technology Progress, one first prize award, five second prizes award and eleven third prizes award of the Science and Technology Progress of Shandong province.
They have taken charge of and completed the work of "Systems engineering of controlling swine disease in pig farm broad in scale in Shan Dong province". In this work, the epidemic disease of swine in pig farm broad in scale has been investigated in Shandong province, and the porcine respiratory and reproductive syndrome virus ( PRRSV) was firstly separated.
They also did well in the field on diagnosis and immunity of swine disease. For example, they have taken charge of and completed the work of "Immune regulation on chicken by traditional Chinese medicine and its polysaccharose and preparation of immune potentiator". In this work, they made a breakthrough in purifying the polysaccharose of traditional Chinese medicine and preparation effective immune potentiator, and developed a kind of immune potentiator with safety, tasty and without side effects. This products were used widely and earned favorable effect.
They have taken charge of and completed the work of "Preparation of concentrating virus antigen and development of vaccine of four important chicken infectious disease". In this work, a new kind of dead vaccine was developed using the concentrating virus antigen coupled with purified factors of crust and Traditional Chinese Medicine, which offered a new way for preparing vaccine.
They also have taken charge of and completed the work of "Development and application of a kind of new anti-virus drugs named Wen Du Sha". This product offered a effective measures in of avian disease caused by virus, and obtained tremendous economic and social benefits in application and dissemination.
They also have taken charge of and completed the work of "Phosphorus Cdeficiency disease of hens and its prevention and control measures". In this work, a kind of index for early clinical and lab diagnosis was established, so did the prevention and control measures.
They also have taken charge of "Development of compound nutrition juice coming from earthworm and its application for swine and fish". It was showed that there was much highly active and active wide-antibacterium matter in earthworm body, a kind of health juice used for swine and fish was developed. In a word, thirteen scientific research fruits were transferred during the Ninth Five-year Plan, and they created the directed economic benefits valued 1745.53 million yuan.
