Conditions: The program has 14 faculty members, including 1 full professor,4 associate professors and 5 lecturers, all of which have PHD or Master’s degree. There are 3 laboratories for material and model-making, computer graphic design and pottery making with a total value exceeding 850,000 Yuan. 6 teaching practical training places have also been built in Beijing, Anhui and Xi’an. The Environmental Design department offers graduate degrees in three research directions, which are Urban Public Art Design, Visual and Digital Landscape, and Landscape Aesthetics.

Academic Achievements: In recent years, 6 national and provincial-level prizes have been awarded to our teachers. 5 textbooks and 51 papers have been published in core journals. One research paper has won the 2nd prize for culture and artistic achievement award in Shandong Province. In addition, students’ works have been awarded and selected more than 70 times in professional competitions both at home and abroad such as shanghai Art Biennale. Also these works have been used in many well-known design companies and leading creative agencies.

Main Courses:

(1) Interior Design: Principle of Interior Design, Architectural Drawing, Decoration Material and Crafts, Representation Techniques, CAD/3D max Computer-aided Design, Human Engineering, Interior Furnishing Design, Living Space Design, Dining Space Design, Commerce and Office Design etc.

(2) Landscape Design: 3D and Space Composition, Representation Techniques of Landscape, Computer-aided Design Software, Landscape Modelling, Landscape Plant configuration, Landscape Hard Material, Landscape Design of Open Space, Landscape Design of Residential Districts, Park Landscape Design, Landscape Design of Leisure and Recreation, and Public Art etc.

Teaching objectives:

(1) Interior Design: The goals are to cultivate students’ comprehensive development in moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetics, to equip them with a systematic study of environmental design theory and knowledge; to help them possess design thinking ability and environmental design methods and skills. The students are able to design the indoor & outdoor spaces, and finally become application-oriented highly specialized personnel who can be engaged in landscape art design, research and management.

(2) Landscape Design: The goals are to cultivate students’ comprehensive development in moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetics, to equip them with the basic theory and knowledge of environmental design, to help them possess design thinking ability and design methods and skills. The students can have basic ability to conduct art innovative design and are able to design the modern urban space, landscape, living environment etc., and finally become senior professional talents who can be engaged in landscape design, study, management and so on.
