College of Plant Protection

The College of Plant Protection at QAU was established in 1958. It has one Master degree program (plant Pathology), three Bachelor degree programs (pharmacy engineering, plant protection, medicine) and one technological course (plant protection).
The College has good staff resources, advanced research equipments and high teaching abilities. Now it has 64 faculty members, among of them there are two PhD supervisors, 7 professors, 20 associate professors, 3 advanced lab assistants, including 16 doctors and 19 masters. There are four teaching institutes: plant pathology, entomology, agricultural chemical, pharmacy engineering and 8 labs. And there are a institute of agricultural applied microorganism and a applied engineering technique research center of agricultural bionic, which are authorized by Provincial Education Committee and Provincial Science Committee. There are 7 research laboratory: nematodology, pest biological control, pathogenic fungi, entomological systematic, insect biogeography, plant disease physiology and molecular biology, insect ecology. In addition, there are teaching and research bases such as plant hospital, control center of plant diseases and pests, teaching experimental station.
In recent ten years, 22 research achievements have been obtained, and over 200 papers have been published, among which, more than 100 papers were published in the national key magazines and important international symposiums. Among of them, "artificial synthesized fungicide imitating the compound in gingko" awarded the first-grade in the top ten scientific and technologic achievements of Shandong Province in 1999. "Research & manufacture and application of artificial synthesized fungicides imitating the compound in gingko" had obtained 2nd award of national prize of science and technology progresses and 1st award of provincial prize of science and technology progresses in Shandong province. Fungicides named "Ludi" and "Yintai", which are got by imitating the compounds in gingko, were widely used to control the diseases of vegetables, fruiters and cereal crops, and the control effects are better than any other common fungicides in the market. These products have obtained four patent certificates of national inventions and all of them were enlisted in the key extension programs by the national patent bureau. "Ludi" has been successfully attorned with 500 million yuan. The attorns of "Yin Tai" is ongoing.
Meanwhile, Professor Meng Zhaoli is hosting one research program of national ministry of science and technology, one of provincial science and technology office and one of provincial finance office. Moreover, there are eight achievements awarded Chinese Agriculture Ministry and provincial technological prizes. Biological fungicide "Kang jun xin xing" has been batch produced and used in fields. The research of pest biological control and plant nematode are in the lead level of international.
The EC (European Community) subject, "the sustaining management of apple and pear diseases" hosted by Professor Li Baodu, is fully started up.
